Eidfjord has a booming local economy, with main industries including tourism, hydroelectricity generation and retail. The local council is also a major employer. The village also has a cinema, an art gallery, library, nature centre, modern sports hall, and, in an around the village, unlimited opportunities for all types of outdoor activities. Within a short distance of the village is Hardangervidda, northern Europe’s largest mountain plateau.

The combination of high mountains and fjord, along with a rapidly developing local economy and good social services, makes Eidfjord a superb place to live in!
